Introduction
This website was developed to support a local dog walker/trainer/behaviourist. It introduces the dog walker and her qualifications, describes her services and contains a contact form to receive messages from prospective customers. Alfie’s Mutts ecommerce store is linked to the website to allow visitors to purchase various dog treats, toys and accessories, supporting Alfie’s Dog Rescue.
Structure
The homepage introduces Mutts Angels. It contains information about the Alfie’s Mutts shop and a link to the ecommerce store. Details of the dog walker includes qualification badges. The contact page is linked below. A carousel of dog customers includes reviews from their owners. A testimonial from an industry respected dog behaviourist is included.
The header shows the company logo and title and a navigation menu to other areas of the site.
The footer includes social media links and the main navigation menu.
The Behavioural Services page introduces the services with a summary in cards using the logo colours. Multiple links take the visitor to the contact page to continue their journey.
The Pet Services page outlines the dog walking/pet sitting/training services available.
The Get in Touch page includes a contact form so that the visitor can leave details of their requirements.
The Alfie’s Mutts Shop link leads to the landing page for the Alfie’s Mutts ecommerce store.
Details
The website was developed using the WordPress content management and Neve theme from Themeisle. This is a classic theme that allows easy website structure and styling of content.
The customer carousel was built using the Metaslider plugin. This plugin takes all of the images and allows the addition of a formatted caption for each one. The behaviour of the slideshow is controlled via a detailed menu. There are many themes that allow the overall look to be implemented in one place. Many of the features can then be adjusted to customise the slideshow.
The contact form was generated using the Contact Form 7 plugin from Rock Lobster Inc.
The website uses the following plugins to add functionality and administration:
- Jetpack – Manages security controls and site analytics
- Google Site Kit – Links to Google Analytics to monitor traffic to the site
- Updraft Plus – Backup and Restore using Dropbox for storage
- Yoast SEO – Manage search engine optimisation
- The Social Links – Manage links to social media accounts
